Ms. East

Welcome to Ms. East's Healthful Living Class!

The purpose of the Health and  Physical Education program at Broad Creek Middle is to contribute to the major components of the Healthful Living Education Curriculum.  In order to accomplish the objectives of our program we have set up rules and procedures, which we believe are necessary to facilitate the education of each individual student.

Dressing for Physical Education:

Students are required to wear a BCMS PE uniform and Tennis Shoes, NO SANDALS, NO FLIP FLOPS, NO LOAFERS, only tied up athletic shoes. If a student fails to dress out completely, he or she will not be allowed to participate.

This will lower the daily grade.

1. Dressing out          1   point

2. Participation        1   point

3. 100% Effort            2   points

4. Knowledge/Skill Tests    added to total points

Actions that will be taken if student does not dress out and participate:

First time: Warning and Minus 4 points of daily grade

Second time: Parents will be notified Minus 4 points of daily grade

Third or more times: Minus 4 points of daily grade plus Bullpen with a written assignment

Class Rules:

1. Sit in designated area

2. Listen and follow directions

3. NO food of any kind, this includes GUM

4. Laser lights, cell phones, Ipods, etc. are not allowed in PE

5. No jewelry is permitted.

Make-up work is the responsibility of the student and must be made up within 5 days of the student returning to school.

Physical Education students who will miss three consecutive days of Physical Activity need a note from a doctor. If it’s only 1 or 2 days, a parent written note will suffice.

Uniform/Shoes should be brought to and from the gym for PE. Nothing should be left in the locker rooms at the END OF CLASS.  During class, students will have a hook  to hang their belongings. TEACHERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT IN THE LOCKER ROOM. The lost and found can in the gym will be emptied every 2 weeks.

Health/Physical Education grades will be based preparedness, classroom behavior, dressing out, participation, effort, homework, classwork, tests, and quizzes. Good sportsmanship will be practiced at all times.

Any special condition, which could limit a student’s ability to participate, should be brought to the attention of the teacher by means of a written explanation from a medical doctor or guardian.
